Itinerary

DAY 1 Arrive Montreal. On arrival at Montreal Airport, take the shuttle to our tour hotel. Montreal is known as the city of 100 steeples, also known as the Northern New Orleans. Take in the old port, the Notre Dame Basilica, St Joseph’s Oratory, the underground galleries, the Biodome, the Plateau Mont-Royal and of course the Grand Prix ‘circuit’. Le Pomerol Hotel.

DAY 2 Montreal – Quebec (250 km). After breakfast you are collected from your hotel to pick up the motorcycle. Once the formalities are out of the way, you’re off on a gentle ride to Quebec City. Here you can explore French Canada’s capital city, a fortress with vestiges of ‘Nouvelle France’ and a World Heritage Site. Overnight Chateau Laurier.

DAY 3 Quebec – Tadoussac (220 km). You leave behind cosmopolitan Quebec and exchange it for the great outdoors. F follow the St Lawrence Seaway eastwards through the UNESCO protected Charlevoix region, with its rich natural treasures and cultural heritage. And it’s a great biking road too! Tadoussac is a famous whale-watching area, so make sure you allow time this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Hotel Georges.

DAY 4 Tadoussac – Matane (200 km). Today’s ride takes you across the mighty St Lawrence seaway by ferry to the northern shores of the Gaspe Peninsula, with several imposing lighthouses. You will then cross the Matane Wildlife Reserve, and with luck your first moose. And try the shrimp, considered by many the most delectable on the planet. Hotel Belle Plage.

DAY 5 Matane – Perce (370 km). Today’s ride is one of the possibly the best on the tour, as you explore this beautiful unspoilt region. First off are the luxuriant flora and fauna of the Chic Chocs Wildlife Reserve. Then it’s Forillon Park and on to Gaspe Bay – Canada’s birthplace, ‘discovered’ in 1534 by Jacques Cartier – and finally legendary Perce Rock. Hotel Le Mirage.

DAY 6 Perce – Carleton (190 km). Allow time for a cruise to Bonaventure Island today. Then carry on round the peninsula to the picturesque port of Carleton. Francis Hotel.

DAY 7 Carleton – Riviere du Loup (355 km). We head back across country today to complete our circuit of the Gaspesie Peninsual, and return to the familiar St Laurence Seaway. Auberge la Solaillerie.

DAY 8 Riviere du Loup – Montreal (430 km). You final day’s ride takes you back down the St Lawrence seaway, through Quebec to Montreal. DAY 10 Kingston – Niagara Falls (390 km). The ride there follows the lakeshore, before you arrive at Niagara Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in Earth. And if you want to get wet, why not take a tour on the ‘Maid of the Mist’, and see Niagara from very close up? Days Inn Clifton Hill.

It has lots to offer, with great shopping, amazing museums, the CN Tower, and plenty of sporting events. Best Western Primrose.
