Our 11-day Peak Performance is a great way to enjoy Western Canada. Start your tour in Vancouver, a delightful city nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Mountains. Leaving the coast behind, you follow a northern route across the Coast Mountains to the semi-desert interior. Discover Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks and enjoy some superb mountain riding when exploring the best of the best in the spectacular Rocky Mountains in Yoho, Banff and Jasper National Parks. Then it is on to Calgary, the cowboy city. From here you head for the southern region of British Columbia, characterized by hot springs, heritage towns and best of all, quiet mountain roads. On your way to the Pacific Coast cross the rugged Coast Mountains again and return to Vancouver.

Highlights

  • Vibrant Vancouver

Itinerary

DAY 1 Arrive Vancouver. We will transfer you by private limousine to our tour hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to explore the city highlights. Ramada Inn Downtown.

DAY 2 Vancouver – Lillooet (280 km). After breakfast you collect your motorcycle and the adventure starts. Head for the Capilano Suspension Bridge on the North Shore. Then ride the famous ‘Sea to Sky’ highway to the alpine resort of Whistler. The quiet Duffey Lake Road leads across the scenic Coast mountains to the warm and dry high sierra, where you overnight in Lillooet, a small native community. Four Pines Motel.

DAY 3 Lillooet – Revelstoke (370-440 km). Follow the mighty Fraser River to Lytton, then take the scenic Nicola Valley to Merritt. We love Highway 5A that winds its way north along the lakes to the city of Kamloops, a large regional centre with an interesting native museum. Then ride along Shushwap Lakes into the rugged Monashee Mountains, where the friendly railroad town of Revelstoke awaits. Glacier House Resort.

DAY 4 Revelstoke (50 km). Free day. Start with a scenic 26-km hairpin ride to the top of Mt Revelstoke National Park, and explore the glaciers, mountain roads and cedar forests of Glacier National Park. You can also go canoeing, hiking or flightseeing (optional). Glacier House Resort.

DAY 5 Revelstoke – Banff (250 km). Ride through the avalanche sheds and along the steep mountains of Rogers Pass before taking the winding road through Kicking Horse Pass and on into the Canadian Rockies. See Yoho Park, Emerald Lake, Lake Louise and the Plain of the Six Glaciers before riding the Bow Valley Parkway to arrive in scenic Banff. High Country Inn.

DAY 6 Banff – Calgary (150 km). This morning you can explore Lake Minnewanka, the Hoodoos and Bow Falls. Take the gondola to the top of Sulphur mountain and soak in the hot springs. Or try your hand at horse riding, canoeing, hiking or mountain biking, perhaps finishing off the day with a tasty western dinner at Wild Bill's. Alternatively, an early start will see you in Calgary comfortably by lunchtime, giving you the rest of the day to discover this intriguing city, with its mixed history of oil and cattle. Check out the Olympic Plaza, the Glenbow Museum, historic Fort Calgary and the Calgary Tower. International Hotel.

DAY 7 Calgary – Fernie (320 km). This morning you head south on scenic Highway 22, with great views of the impressive Rocky Mountains. Follow the historic Crowsnest Pass west to visit the mining town of Frank before riding into British Columbia and our overnight stop in Fernie. BW Mountain Lodge.

DAY 8 Fernie – Rossland (390 km). Today’s drive is spectacular. Visit historic Fort Steele and ride the curves along Koootenay Lake to Crawford Bay for a 45-minute ferry ride across the lake. Then hit the hot springs at Ainsworth, and if you have time visit Kaslo and the historic mining town of Sandon. Next comes Nelson, popular with artists and with a rich gold-mining history. Overnight in the highest town in Canada, Rossland. Casa Alpina.

DAY 9 Rossland – Manning Park (400 km). Follow the old trade route, the Dewdney Trail, to Manning Park. A steep descent down Anarchist Mountain (no we don’t make up these names!) brings you to Osoyoos, the warmest spot in Canada. From here the road winds along the Similkameen River and deep into the forests of the Cascade Mountains. Manning Park Lodge.

DAY 10 Manning Park – Vancouver (200 km). This morning visit Hope, where Stallone's hit First Blood was filmed. See the historic Othello Tunnels and Fort Langley and ride on down the Fraser Valley to Vancouver. Visit Stanley Park, Chinatown, historic Gastown and famous Robson St. Sylvia Hotel.

DAY 11 Depart Vancouver (50 km). Return your motorcycle this morning and the rest of the day is yours until your flight. We give you a free trolley pass as there’s probably still time today for more sightseeing before your flight home.
